Although similar, kinky boots are very different from the tame go-go boots introduced in an earlier post!
Kinky boots are usually high-heeled with a pointed toe and fit over the knee to finish part way up the thigh. They are generally made in materials that are very noticeable and often shiny.
The previous post was about the introduction of the mini skirt and this post is about the go-go boots that go with them!
At the start of the 1960s, boots were, of course, a vital fashion accessory but were only worn in the worst of the Winter or on other cold and wet days. The were seen, like wellington boots, as essential rather than fashion wear.

What’s not generally known is that the Mini Skirt – that icon of 60s fashion – struggled even to make it into the 1960s decade at all!
As the 1960s began, clothes for most teenagers were either sourced from the children’s section or the adult section. Odd as it sounds today, and it does sound odd to write this, there were no special clothes for teenagers – girls were either dressed as children or dressed like their mothers! However, that is except for a designer, Mary Quant, who had begun a dress shop in the Kings Road, London.
