Co Durham Day Out At Weardale Railway

Weardale_Railway_day_outAnother steam railway day out and this time for our friends in the lovely North of England in County Durham at the Weardale Railway.

We featured the railway last year and, for those who don’t know, the Weardale Railway is founded on an old and previously disused branch line that runs from Bishop Auckland and follows the River Wear west to Eastgate-in-Weardale, a distance of approximately 18.7 miles.  In itself, the route is a lovely one but there are many attractions this year that make it an ideal day out.

Day Out – 1960s Weekend Llangollen Railway

LLANGOLLEN_WEEKEND_day_out_railway_60sAfter the success of last year, make a note in your diary, Saturday and Sunday 30th and 31st July 2011 there is a 60s themed event at the lovely Llangollen Railway in Clywd LL20 8SN.

This event includes a beer festival with live 60′s music from a proper 60s era tribute band and a fabulous transport display of 60′s era and similar classic vehicles. I know that both of these will be popular with Sixties Britain readers!

Days Out – 1960s Weekend Llangollen Railway

llangollen_railway_60s_days_outMake a note in your diary, weekend of the 31st July & 1st August 2010 there is a 60s themed event at lovely Llangollen Railway in Clywd LL20 8SN.

This event promises to be a recreation of the fabulous 1960s with steam and diesel trains, period rolling stock, music, real ale and, most important, an exhibition of classic vehicles and other transport from the period. It is hoped, too, that there will be stands selling 60s memorabilia and clothes.

Both Llangollen town and the Llangollen Railway are always a great venue for a day out. Add to this a 60s theme and it should really be worth travelling to see.

In case you haven’t been before, the railway runs some 7½ miles along the banks of the River Dee from Llangollen to Carrog through some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK.

If you do go, be sure to take some photographs and leave a link to them below so that we can all enjoy the event.

Days Out – Weardale Railway, Co Durham

weardale railway days outI make no apologies for including yet another steam railway as they are both popular and usually a great day out for all the family, young and old.

The Weardale Railway is found in County Durham in the U.K. and, like so many other steam railways, is an old and previously disused branch line. It runs from Bishop Auckland and follows the River Wear west to Eastgate-in-Weardale, a distance of approximately 18.7 miles.

Lifestyle – Models Hornby Skaledale

hornby models skaledaleI make no apologies for yet another post on model train inspired ideas! One thing I particularly liked, but was never able to afford, was the scenery you can add to a model train set. In fact, I have to say that it interested me as much as did the trains!
